MENOPAUSE AT THE WORKPLACE IS SUCH A STRUGGLE!

Project deadlines and reports due and stresses are already hard enough without having to throw “the change” into mix of things!

Are you menopausal or are an employer which has female staff members who are 45 years or older?

Having peri / menopausal women at the workplace is not always “visible” with women “white-knuckling” through their symptoms on daily basis.

1️⃣ Hormonal Changes: Menopause brings about significant hormonal changes in women that may affect their productivity and ability to concentrate in the workplace. These symptoms can be unpredictable and disruptive, making it challenging for menopausal women to perform at their best.

2️⃣ Sleep Disturbances: Many menopausal women experience sleep disturbances, such as insomnia or frequent awakenings during the night. The lack of quality sleep can leave them feeling tired and groggy during the day, making it difficult to stay focused and alert at work. This can impact their cognitive abilities, memory, and overall productivity.

3️⃣ Emotional Well-being: Menopause is often accompanied by emotional changes, including mood swings, irritability, anxiety, and depression. These make it challenging for women to cope with stressors in the workplace and maintain healthy relationships with colleagues.

The emotional toll of menopause affects their self-confidence and motivation, potentially hindering career advancement and job satisfaction.

It's important for workplaces to create an inclusive and supportive environment that recognises and accommodates the unique challenges faced by menopausal women. Flexible work arrangements, access to healthcare resources, and open communication channels can help alleviate some of the struggles and enable women to thrive during this transitional phase of their lives.
