Recently, I went under the knife! I’ve had a fused arthritic toe getting in the way of proper execution of certain exercises and of course wearing heels! Day surgery staff WAS AMAZING!
However a week and a bit later and not being able to do my NUMBER ONE LOVE (running / walking / moving freely / dancing) is getting to me BUT! I have created a plan since day 1 !
Rest and recover to me means finding creative ways to keep moving despite limitations. Since my foot operation, I've had to adapt my training and focus on upper body workouts, stretching, mobility AND CORE. It's been a chance to explore new exercises and challenge myself in different ways.
Of course, with reduced physical activity, I‘ve had to be mindful of my calorie intake!!!! It hasn't been easy so far, but being mindful of my nutrition has helped me stay on track.
For those who can't currently engage in their usual workouts, there are always options!! As soon as I have stitches removed and given the all clear I’ll hit the beaches or swimming pool! I’ll do more demanding workouts using TRX and heavier weights without worrying about sweat and infection.
I KNOW I KNOW - You may be thinking just enjoy the downtime and it’ll all be fine once you’re back on your feet.
But I simply can’t! I love the energy workouts bring to my day to day, the endorphin high, the sharing inside my groups, creating new content and workouts! And my members are just an inspiration at this time x
Rest and recovery may look different for everyone, but the important thing is to find what works for you.
So, what about you? How do you rest and recover? Share your thoughts and let's keep the conversation going! #RestAndRecover #AdaptAndExplore #FindYourBalance
