“POWER TRAINING FOR ALL”
And especially at a certain age and over.
You naturally lose muscle mass as you get older. I can vouch for that and we had a laugh at classes because if I were to put in the weight training I do now back when I was twenty, I’d be the female version of Arnold Schwarzenegger!!
I'm a mesomorph and get defined very easily. But nowadays? not so much. It's amazing how you lose muscle even if you don’t train for a few days!
Strength training, power training, and weight training, is a staple class in my timetable and one of the most popular.
Power training is super because of many reasons we know - but have you lost your way a little with your dumbbells? or find your walking, gentle yoga or aerobics classes more fun?
YOU KNOW I ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO WHAT IS FUN FOR YOU OTHERWISE YOU DON’T STICK TO IT.
I can also tell you that the benefits associated with power training SUPERCEDE the rest of other disciplines - even if you’re a long distant runner lover - you get better injury resilience with tougher connective tissues, muscles, and bones!!
Power training helps Improve your heart health too. It's not just cardiovascular exercise, such as running or aerobics, that can benefit your heart.
Maintain a healthy weight as metabolism is enhanced.
Boosts your mental wellbeing.
Strengthens your joints!
Also - don’t know about you but I’m at an age now that painful joints and slight change of pace is compromising my once ‘invincible mental attitude belief system’
Weight training enhances the quality of my life and helps me maintain independence as I age!
IS THIS YOU TOO?
I want to feel able and capable for as long as I can!
So I believe with weight training, using dynamic stretching like in yoga and pilates PLUS lots of core exercise is the very EXERCISE PRESCRIPTION.
